An Old Rugged Cross Was His Throne

Jesus and Calvary

A poem Holy Spirit put into my heart on July 28, 2014

An old rugged cross was His throne
And His crown was one made of thorns
He was spat on, cursed and scorned
Stripped of the clothes that He wore
Naked He hung for all to see
But they couldn’t take His diety
God in the flesh hung on that tree
He came to die for you and me

Ten thousand angels would have come
If He had beckoned even just one
But the Father said no, leave Him be
He has to do this to set man free
The angels cried but they obeyed
As they watched the Savior die that day

But there was something they didn’t know
His crown of thorns would turn to gold
The cross from once He hung
Would become the throne He now sits on
The angels sang holy is the Lamb
As they sang and danced around the throne

But satan and his demons were dancing with glee
As they watched Jesus being nailed to that tree
Satan thought he’d won and man was doomed
He was a fool, had no clue what he had done
By having them kill God’s only Son

When Jesus arose and walked outta’ that tomb
Satan trembled with fear and fell to his knees
As Jesus took from his hand that held the keys
And unlocked the chains that set us free
And put that ole serpent under mans feet

As He took His place at Abba’s right hand
Love one another was His last command
Be Jesus in the flesh to your fellow man
To love, show mercy and forgive
And walk in the freedom He died to give

An old rugged cross was once His throne
And the crown He once wore was made of thorns

In His love,
Elizabeth

About Elizabeth

I consider it an honor and a privilege, not a right as a woman, to be called to preach the gospel. I pray you find something here to bless you for that is my prayer and if I fail, in words, to express what I feel in my heart, I pray Holy Spirit will reveal it.
